RiskMan.Net delivers DHHS CIMS Reporting

Why are we making a change?

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has developed a new Client Incident Management System (CIMS) that focuses on the most serious events. CIMS empowers service providers to effectively respond to and manage client incidents, to be accountable for their actions and to manage the quality of their own services. The new CIMS is an end-to-end approach and comprises five stages that can be managed within RiskMan.Net.

  • Identification and response
  • Reporting
  • Incident investigation
  • Incident review
  • Analysis and learning of incident information to improve the quality of service and support the clients

What is going to change?

Prior to the development of the new CIMS Policy and API requirements, DHHS records were submitted to The Department following this process:

  • The incident was entered into RiskMan.Net
  • A customised DHHS report form was generated by RiskMan.Net
  • That DHHS report was printed, signed and faxed to The Department

Everything will now be done electronically through RiskMan.Net - both the entering of the incident and the transmission via a custom built API. Faxed forms will no longer be accepted after January 15th 2018.

What are the benefits of using RiskMan.Net to submit CIMS records?

1. All Incidents entered in one place with full functionality to transmit the subset of CIMS records to DHHS via the API.  Removes the need for any double entry.

2. Non-major Incidents can be sent in batches. The DHHS (Client Incident Register) CIR does not support this functionality.

3. All types of Incidents recorded and submitted, including; Client, Staff, Volunteer, Contractor, Relative, Visitor and Hazards. The DHHS CIR only accepts Client Incidents.

4.Functionality for all aspects of the CIMS Policy requirements and the bi-directional communication that is required for following up Investigations, Reviews and Analysis.

5. Full management of the Incident from initial submission right through to the Investigation, Case Review, Root Cause Analysis and the final Outcomes.

6. RiskMan.Net provides a CIMS Incident Transmission Log showing successful transmissions, errors and error details outlining error reasons. There is also a direct link to the record for ease of use.

7. In addition to the CIMS functionality, RiskMan.Net provides the ability to fully manage the workflow of any Incident with assigned tasks, due dates, alerts and escalations.

8. We can also provide other modules to complement Incident Management, such as Quality, Risk Register and Audits.
